How I shade white in my collage work

Today I am going to show you how I shade my white areas with old book pages, handwriting, and ephemera. I never paint white paper, I use found papers as they come.

In my work I often use handwriting and sheet music, these are some of my favorite “whites.”

I’m giving you permission to never throw anything away ever again.
