Creating Collage Paper for Water in the Landscape
Achieve Shimmery, Watery Effects
Today’s Tidbit is a video I created for Gel Press. As a Creative Team Artist with Gel Press I create instructional videos that are published to their YouTube. You can find my videos as well as those by many other great artists on the Gel Press YouTube Channel. You’ll find tons of inspiration and creative concepts there.
This week I’m creating collage papers for water and how I used tall grasses to give me the effect. Not all water is blue, you can try this technique for deep greens and browns when considering rivers and lakes. Collage is an impressionistic medium–we are suggesting reflections on the surface of water with the combination of metallic paint and horizontal markings and striations printed on the rice paper.
I’m using rice paper on a 9x12 pad for this technique. This is my all-time favorite paper for the gel plate because of it's smooth, sized surface, AND for collage because rice paper is highly absorbent and glues down like a dream. You can find it on my Amazon Shopping Resource Page, link below.
