Secrets for Complex Layered Pastel Gel Prints

Layering from Light to Dark and Back to Light Again!

In this week's Tutorial Tidbit In this week's Tutorial Tidbit I will show you my tips and tricks for creating complex gel prints in pastel pink. The challenge with pastel colors is achieving multiple layers without getting too dark. Layering is the key for complex gel prints, varying the pattern of your stencil and working from light to dark and back to light again are techniques that help you achieve this. Be sure to pay close attention to how I flip the stencil when I use it a second time.
NOTE: I used one mask and one stencil in this tutorial, after filming it came to my attention that the stencil I used is discontinued.... booo, hiss. OK so I have a substitute stencil suggestion for you that will give similar results.

Sumie-E Sketch Paper comes in a 9x12 pad (and on an 8x20’ roll) and is wonderfully absorbent collage paper that glues down flat and smooth.
I am super excited that both rice paper products are now stocked by Joggles!
