This workshop is perfect for artists looking to grow as landscape collage painters. You will finish the course with the skills and knowledge for creating your own hand-painted papers and collaging water, reflections, greenery, skies, mountains.
Students will work from a provided reference photo of the Sedona Red Rocks and Oak Creek. You may bring an alternate landscape photo of your choice, although I think it’s helpful to learn from fellow students using the same reference image.
WE WILL COVER:
How to create a compelling composition
How to transfer your photo to the substrate with graphite transfer paper
How to create an underpainting with vibrant color and successful shading
How to paint your own collage papers using the gel plate
How to rip and glue–applying your collage paper in a painterly manner
How to tear with and without white edges
How to keep your pieces perfectly flat without cockling
How to vary your paper brush marks in size and shape
